Andrea's fascination with how the body works began as a young dancer. She has been dancing since age five training in ballet, jazz, modern and ballroom. Her dance career has given her the opportunity to dance as a representative to Miss Dance California, as a member of the Claremont Colleges Ballroom Dance Company and as a finalist in the United States Ballroom National Championships. Andrea has worked with the American Ballet Theater and the Dorothy Day Otis Talent Agency in the Dance and Choreography Division. Andrea graduated from Scripps College with a double major in Psychology and Dance. She worked as a dance instructor and choreographer for Valverde School of Performing Arts. Andrea is on faculty at Citrus College in the Fine and Performing Arts Department. Her favorite class to teach is a Pilates-based conditioning class called Alignment and Correctives. Andrea trained in Pilates at Long Beach Dance Conditioning under Marie-Jose Blom-Lawrence and Lorena Brown. She is nationally certified by the Pilates Method Alliance. Andrea is also certified in Pre-Natal and Post Partum Fitness by Fusion Pilates. Andrea has also taught a Pilates-based conditioning class at Scripps for faculty, staff and students. She is a certified Reiki I practitioner and uses the energy work when helping clients with chronic pain. Andrea completed a Master’s Certification in Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analysis at the University of Utah through the Integrated Movement Studies program under the instruction of Ed Groff, Peggy Hackney and Janice Meaden. Andrea has been working with clients as a Somatic Movement Therapist since 2003, helping people take care of their daily aches and pains. She is fascinated by the infinite compensatory pattern produced by the body and loves helping people learn how to care for themselves. Andrea completed her doctorate in Physical Therapy at Azusa Pacific University. Her clinical rotations in Orthopedics, Neurological Rehabilitation, Pediatrics and Acute Care were completed at San Antonio Community Hospital, Loma Linda University Hospital, City of Hope, St. Joseph's Hospital and The Shea Center of Therapeutic Riding. Andrea investigated how Pilates impacts chronic low back pain for her doctoral research. Andrea completed a post-doctoral residency in Orthopedics at Casa Colina Center for Rehabilitation. She is a board certified orthopedic clinical specialist. Andrea is a regular guest lecturer at Scripps, IMS and APU.  Andrea has regular clients from all over southern California, including Los Angeles, Orange County, Riverside, San Diego and Paso Robles as well as out-of-state.
